Kraft... great ideas for families

Hi Temp My Tummy Pals! This week I'm highlighting a website Kraft Foods.

They have so many great recipes and fantastic meal plans.
Go to the "1 Bag, 5 dinners" section for a full m
eal plan for a week, plus a shopping list. You will love that.

What I really like is it is cooking for real people like me and you! Who does not need a little help packing lunch for the kids? They have ideas for school lunches that will keep your kid excited to eat healthy lunches you prepare.

I also like the Healthy Living section of the site, they have message boards and lots of great healthy alternatives for eating well.

I hope you enjoy browsing the site and I hope you find a new family favorite from there as well.

The Food & Family magazine is a great value as well if you like print. It is always full of great stuff too.

Kathryn's Apple Sugar Pie

OK... I know you are expecting Ice Cream again, but alas... something different. I was flipping through a church cookbook and saw a hand written note. So I stopped on that page. It said, "Kathryn's Apple Sugar Pie" and I had a date next to that. I remembered that night we made it and she was all excited. She gave it the new name because "Apple crisp" made no sense to her.

I began putting notes in cookbooks by recipes I had tried and the date with a comment. My mom has done this for years and I can not even begin to tell you how much I treasure coming across one of her hand written notes in an old cookbook she has passed along to me. So, today I'm posting a recipe that my daughter likes and made up her own name for.

Apple Crisp (aka Kathryn's Apple Sugar Pie)

4 cups sliced apples (or 2 large cans of apple pie filling)
1/4 cups water
1tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup flour
1/3 cup butter softened

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread apples in bottom of an 8 inch square pan. Combine water, cinnamon and salt. Sprinkle over apples. Combine sugar, flour and butter until crumbly (using fingers.) Spread crumbs over apples. Bake, uncovered about 40 minutes.

Y'ALL it is still SO HOT! I know you are tired of me telling you... but I just can not help it! So, I'm thinking about cold things AGAIN! I know many of you are not lucky enough to live here in Texas where it is a comfortable 104 degrees... but I know you love ice cream. One of the BEST things about living in Texas is Blue Bell Ice Cream. I've eaten other ice cream... but I'm telling you, nothing really compares. So what I want to know is...

The BIG ANNIVERSARY GIVEAWAY

Happy Anniversary to Tempt My Tummy Tuesday. When Lisa and I came up with the idea, one year ago to host TMTT, we never expected it to be what it has become. We now average over 70 participants, each week! We have discovered some wonderful recipes and made some great blog friends through TMTT. Lisa and I want to thank you all for your faithfulness to participate, sharing your recipes tips and ideas.

As a THANK YOU we are hosting a cookbook giveaway TODAY!!The winner of the giveaway will receive our FAVORITE cookbook. Both Lisa and I were given this cookbook as wedding gifts. I know that we have used many recipes from our books, through the years. Having been born and raised in Austin, Texas, we are proud the cookbook was created by the Austin Junior League. The giveaway will end at Midnight Tuesday night, July 7th. Lisa will use Random.Org to generate the winner. Lisa will announce the winner on Wednesday afternoon. NOW... today's recipe
Chicken Divan
It has been awhile since I made this, but I have a real craving for it, so I'm sure it will be made soon. It is super yummy! This comes from one of my favorites, Paula Deen
from her Food Network recipe list. I hope you enjoy it! My husband even likes it and he is not a fan of curry... so don't let that ingredient throw you off.
Ingredients
2 (10-ounce) packages frozen broccoli, chopped
6 cups shredded chicken, cooked
2 (10 3/4-ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup sour cream
1 cup grated sharp Cheddar
1 tablespoon fresh
lemon juice
1 teaspoon curry powder
Salt and pepper
1/2 cup dry white wine
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan
1/2 cup soft
bread crumbs
2 tablespoons butter, melted
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Remove the outer wrappers from the boxes of broccoli. Open 1 end of each box. Microwave on full power for 2 minutes, until thawed. Drain the broccoli and put into a casserole dish. Add the shredded chicken.
In a medium bowl, combine the soup, mayonnaise, sour cream, Cheddar, lemon juice, curry powder, salt and pepper, to taste, and wine. Whisk together to make a sauce. Pour the sauce over the broccoli and chicken. Mix well with a spatula.
Place the mixture into an 11 by 7-inch casserole dish or 2 (9-inch) square disposable aluminum foil pans that have been sprayed with vegetable oil cooking spray. Pat down evenly and smooth with a spatula. Combine the Parmesan, bread crumbs and butter and sprinkle over the top.
Bake for about 30 to 45 minutes.
